Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello blasts Paul Ryan as hypocrite

Posted by Warm Southern Breeze on Friday, August 17, 2012

Let’s see… Paul Ryan‘s resume should read 1.) Career Politician; 2.) Hypocrite.

He took Social Security survivor’s benefits money after his daddy died, and has only briefly held one job – Oscar Mayer Weinermobile driver – during the summers – much less then a year. Other than that, he’s been involved in politics. No private sector job. And the whole irony of the matter is that Mitt Romney is on the record as saying that his running mate should have a minimum of business experience (not that it matters, because he’s publicly contradicted himself so many times).

However, a few months ago Mitt did suggest that we ought to change the constitution so that “the president has to spend three years working in business before he becomes president of the United States. Then he or she would understand that the policies they are putting into place have to encourage small business to grow.”

Of course, that would have disqualified former Republican President Dwight David Eisenhower (34th President of the United States from 1953 until 1961), who was a career Army Officer, and rose to the rank of Supreme Allied Commander during WWII, and then retired shortly thereafter the war’s conclusion.

Tom Morello: ‘Paul Ryan Is the Embodiment of the Machine Our Music Rages Against’

Rage Against the Machine‘s guitarist blasts Romney’s VP pick and unlikely Rage fan

Last week, Mitt Romney picked Paul Ryan, the Republican architect of Congress’s radical right-wing budget plan, as his running mate. Ryan has previously cited Rage Against the Machine as one of his favorite bands. Rage guitarist Tom Morello responds in this exclusive op-ed.

Paul Ryan’s love of Rage Against the Machine is amusing, because he is the embodiment of the machine that our music has been raging against for two decades. Charles Manson loved the Beatles but didn’t understand them. Governor Chris Christie loves Bruce Springsteen but doesn’t understand him. And Paul Ryan is clueless about his favorite band, Rage Against the Machine.

Ryan claims that he likes Rage’s sound, but not the lyrics. Well, I don’t care for Paul Ryan’s sound or his lyrics. He can like whatever bands he wants, but his guiding vision of shifting revenue more radically to the one percent is antithetical to the message of Rage.

I wonder what Ryan’s favorite Rage song is? Is it the one where we condemn the genocide of Native Americans? The one lambasting American imperialism? Our cover of “Fuck the Police”? Or is it the one where we call on the people to seize the means of production? So many excellent choices to jam out to at Young Republican meetings!

Don’t mistake me, I clearly see that Ryan has a whole lotta “rage” in him: A rage against women, a rage against immigrants, a rage against workers, a rage against gays, a rage against the poor, a rage against the environment. Basically the only thing he’s not raging against is the privileged elite he’s groveling in front of for campaign contributions.

You see, the super rich must rationalize having more than they could ever spend while millions of children in the U.S. go to bed hungry every night. So, when they look themselves in the mirror, they convince themselves that “Those people are undeserving. They’re . . . lesser.” Some of these guys on the extreme right are more cynical than Paul Ryan, but he seems to really believe in this stuff. This unbridled rage against those who have the least is a cornerstone of the Romney-Ryan ticket.

But Rage’s music affects people in different ways. Some tune out what the band stands for and concentrate on the moshing and throwing elbows in the pit. For others, Rage has changed their minds and their lives. Many activists around the world, including organizers of the global occupy movement, were radicalized by Rage Against the Machine and work tirelessly for a more humane and just planet. Perhaps Paul Ryan was moshing when he should have been listening.

My hope is that maybe Paul Ryan is a mole. Maybe Rage did plant some sensible ideas in this extreme fringe right wing nut job. Maybe if elected, he’ll pardon Leonard Peltier.  Maybe he’ll throw U.S. military support behind the Zapatistas. Maybe he’ll fill Guantanamo Bay with the corporate criminals that are funding his campaign – and then torture them with Rage music 24/7. That’s one possibility. But I’m not betting on it.

Let’s see… Tom is also a hypocrite and career douchebag. They seem to sync up. Tommy from Harvard, made millions off consumers (aka fans) and shows up at rallys to pretend he is still “one of the people”. The irony was lost when he called out a politician who was his fan.

Who is Tom Morello? Time to recognize, people. He is one of the few human beings who devotes his LIFE to the cause of bringing attention to the needless suffering caused by the establishment (reads: ‘corporate/elitist interests of the powermongers). The truth that he speaks is YOUR truth, you are just too ignorant to recognize this! If you would start turning over all of those ‘mystifying’ rocks you have been hiding beneath, you will find injustice in every deed of the powerful: The erosion of your bill of rights; the suppression of resistance leaders (from Abbie Hoffman to John Trudell –oops do you even know who John Trudell is??); the eradication of the middle class; the overthrow of foreign democratic governments and military support for the puppet dictatorships, many of whom were instituted by the government of the United States (Guatemala, the Congo, Chile, etc.); the marginalization of the poor and minority groups; the subsidizing of corporate executive vacations as tax deductible (your vacation is NOT tax deductibe — ever ask yourself why that is?). I could go on and on, but I suggest you GET INFORMED yourself!! And if you want your ass kissed, ask a poisonous snake. I’m sure it would oblige.

Wrong, you lying, clueless idiot. Tom Morello is a talentless propaganda hack who has devoted his worthless life to aggrandizing and worshipping the totalitarianism, slavery, genocide, poverty and oppression of his beloved Marxist dogma, and all the bloodthirsty dictators who helped to ensure that evil doctrine e killed over 100 million people.

Morello is a lying, hypocritical scumbag with no worth, as are his fans.

Well Tom. How much money do you have in the bank? Maybe you should give it to those starving children instead of just complaining about it. Don’t give me that how much money you’ve given speech. How much do you have that you could still give if you are really concerned about starving children. By the way nice jacket.

Like Tom Morello or the rest of the dictator-worshipping, totalitarianism-fetishizing Red Diaper Babies in Rage For The Machine have any place to talk.

That’s a cute accusation, coming from a wealthy Communist who never met a Marxist dictatorship or genocide he didn’t love.
