Heaven’s Mercy Keeps Us Intact

Posted by Warm Southern Breeze on Friday, June 16, 2017

Consider this horrifically tragic scenario: What if every time we did something wrong, we had to cut off parts of our bodies – our eyes, our hands, etc. – in order to get to Heaven. It’s unimaginable! That’s exactly the type picture that Jesus suggested to those who erroneously thought that the only way to avoid punishment and suffering for wrong-doing, also sometimes called Hell, was to eliminate all sin from their lives. We’d all end up maimed and disfigured. Make no mistake – leading a virtuous life is good, and has merit, but it won’t get you to Heaven. The only thing that opens those pearly gates for us is the Almighty’s forgiveness. It’s exceedingly better to depend on grace, mercy, and faithful love through the LORD, as evidenced in the life of Jesus Christ, than any shaky prospect that we might be successful in our own personal quest for perfection.
