Yes, it’s TRUE:
Iowa Republican Senator Charles “Chuck” Grassley, now aged 89, (b.1933) was born before the invention of the chocolate chip cookie (late 1930’s).
And — believe it, or else — Iowa voters returned him to the nation’s Capitol to serve warm a seat another six (6) years in the United States Senate.
So, when was the chocolate chip cookie invented?
For that answer, we find this:
“The original recipe was created in the late 1930s by Ruth Wakefield who famously ran the Toll House restaurant in Whitman, Massachusetts. The delicious mix of crispy cookie and melted chocolate chunks first appeared in Read the rest of this entry »

A few weeks back, I enjoyed an outing with a neighbor, and we later returned to make
s’mores.
Honestly, the chocolately, marshmallow,
graham cracker cookie treat is a fairly new thing for me, having discovered them less than a year ago, when they were introduced to me by another friend who was ecstatically telling me about how delicious they were.
Not being a big fan of
marshmallows – I genuinely
don‘t like them in any form – I reluctantly tried them.
Okay… no big whoop.
I still don’t like s’mores.
BUT!
This young lady obviously does!
Isn’t she the cutest?!?

Ironies are rarely mute.
It’s just that they choose to speak afterward.
They’re kinda’ like God.
It’s sometimes said that, “Coincidence is when God chooses to remain anonymous.” Or, as a dear friend of mine once put it, “I don’t believe in coincidence. I believe in God-incidence.”
Thanks be to God, I’ve recently accepted an offer of employment in my field, and will shortly be relocating to be more near that job. For me, that means an out-of-state move. I am thankful… IMMENSELY thankful, for the opportunity, in so many different ways.
As part of my expression of thanks, I had written a note of thanks to one of my Flickr contacts recently, and wanted to share the essence of that letter with you all.
So, with little editing, what follows below represents the gist of the idea I shared in the message.
And before you read further, be aware that this note contains very poignant irony.
Enjoy! …Continue…
