IN AN EARLIER ENTRY I’d written that I had successfully resolved sparsebunlde errors on the Time Capule/Time Machine which I use to back up my computer.
At the time, I thought I had.
However, when I examined the disk, I found there was a duplicate sparsebundle.
Typically, unless the file name is changed by the user, on the OSX (Apple’s Macintosh Operating System) duplicate files are indicated by the presence of an Arabic numeral (1, 2, 3, 4, etc.) following any file name. Because the sparsebundle, and any errors arising from it are created by the system, they are therefore not available to be changed by the user. Thus, the file names would be appended with a number as explained.
However, problems can be readily noted because either Read the rest of this entry »

Among defense contractors, QinetiQ North America (QQ/) is known for spy-world connections and an eye- popping product line. Its contributions to national security include secret satellites, drones, and software used by U.S. special forces in Afghanistan and the Middle East.
Former CIA Director George Tenet was a director of the company from 2006 to 2008 and former Pentagon spy chief Stephen Cambone headed a major division. Its U.K. parent was created as a spinoff of a government weapons laboratory that inspired Q’s lab in Ian Fleming’s James Bond thrillers, a connection QinetiQ (pronounced kin-EH-tic) still touts.
QinetiQ’s espionage expertise didn’t keep Chinese cyber- spies from outwitting the company. In a three-year operation, hackers linked to China’s military infiltrated QinetiQ’s computers and compromised most if not all of the company’s research. At one point, they logged into the company’s network by taking advantage of a security flaw identified months earlier and never fixed.

“Trust me!”
(aka, Windows Redux)
Mac: Hello, I’m a Mac.
PC: And I’m a PC.
P: Hey Mac, did you hear the good news?
M: Really?
P: Windows 7 is out, and it’s not gonna’ have any of the problems my last operating system had. Trust me!
M: I feel like I’ve heard this before, PC.
P: What!?
(Time warp…)
PC: Windows Vista’s here and it’s not gonna’ have any of the problems that Windows XP had.
… it’s not gonna’ have any of the problems that Windows ME had.
… it’s not gonna’ have any of the problems that Windows 98 had.
… it’s not gonna’ have any of the problems that Windows 95 had.
… it’s not gonna’ have any of the problems that Windows 2 had.
Trust me.
This time, it’s gonna’ be different.
Trust me.
