Why is America Subsidizing Communism?
Posted by Warm Southern Breeze on Wednesday, January 5, 2022
You know, the irony of the Opioid Epidemic is that folks are seeking relief from pain… pain which is psycho-social, emotional, not related to disease, injury, or surgery. But pain, nonetheless.
And what might the cause of that pain be?
Joblessness, homelessness, hopelessness.
Why don’t they have a job?
Ask Congress.
They were the ones who sent their jobs overseas in the misguided notion that it’d help our nation’s economy.
Yeah.
Right.
And there’s a Santa Claus, too — and an Easter Bunny, and a Tooth Fairy.
The Sackler family and other pharmaceutical makers were only capitalizing upon human tragedy by peddling pain relief.
And oddly, that’s what was needed… in addition to a job.
But you can’t sue Congress.
However… you CAN vote the bastards out of office — and should.
Every goddamn one of ’em.
ALL Republicans, ALL Democrats, ALL Independents.
ALL OF THEM.
And then, establish Term Limits for Congress; 20 years combined elected Federal service ought to be enough for anyone. That’d be 10, 2-year terms in the House, or 3, 6-year terms in the Senate (18) plus 1, 2-year term in the House, or any combination thereof. Remember when Newt Gingrich promised that with his “Contract on America”? Promises, promises. He also cheated on his wife, and asked her to sign divorce papers while she was on her near-death bed following cancer surgery. She survived. He remarried. Divorced his 2nd wife. He’s now on the 3rd one. Funny thing, too… Gingrich led the cavalry against then-POTUS CLINTON when he was accused of getting a blow job from Monica Lewinsky in the oral… er, Oval Office.
Yeah. What a guy, eh?
Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
It was on September 4, 2009 when the first entry of the blog Warm Southern Breeze was written.
Since then, as of January 4, 2022 — 12 years, 4 months, 1 day, or 4506 calendar days — have elapsed, and 2482 entries have been published. That’s almost an entry nearly every 2 days — 1.815, to be exact.
Not everything written has been political, but as I recently shared with a longtime friend, politics touches upon EVERY aspect of our lives, from food, to economics, to clothing, housing, healthcare, and even sex. It’s literally IMPOSSIBLE to flee from politics, for there is NOTHING it does not affect in our lives.
Clothing: CAFTA sent Alabama’s sock factories fleeing to Central America, a region of the world now in political upheaval and violently deadly turmoil, which has seen Honduran families fleeing for life-saving refuge to a nation where refugees were once accepted. We should apologize to Emma Lazarus who wrote “The New Colossus” poem adorning the pedestal of the Statute of Liberty:
“… and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome;
…
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
China: “Only Nixon could go to China” was the saying so many years ago. And yet, if ANYONE, regardless their political persuasion, were to be asked
“Should it be legal for American companies to do business with communists?,”
I daresay the overwhelming majority of respondents would resoundingly say “NO!” And yet, there’s nothing in our lives — LITERALLY, NOTHING — that is not now Made in China.
We
(Wall $treet to be exact)
are $ubsidizing the communist$.
That’s a tragically sad fact of the matter, and in my estimation, should not be the case.
Healthcare: Don’t get me started.
And one of the most perverse things one could possibly imagine, is the Health Maintenance Organization Act of 1973 (P.L. 93-222), which made profiteering from the delivery of healthcare services legal. Up until that time, to profit from the delivery of healthcare services had been largely illegal (it’s complicated, but the matter largely revolves around HMOs), and most hospital-based case was provided by religious charity institutions, and other public not-for-profit entities.
The irony of that matter, is that the “Liberal Lion of the Senate,” Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy wrote that legislation. It stunned me to learn that fact. H.R.7974 in the 93rd Congress (1973-74) was authored by Rep. William R. Roy [D-KS-2], which was tabled in lieu of S.14, which was authored and sponsored by Kennedy.
Relatedly, there is extant audio recording made 17 February 1971 of now-late, former POTUS NIXON conversing with now-late Domestic Policy Advisor John D. Ehrlichman (convicted Watergate co-conspirator), telling him about Egar Kaiser (of Kaiser Permanente renown, and large donor to Nixon’s campaign) who had an idea to keep people sick, instead of curing them, in order to keep them returning for care. Yes, it’s perverse. But, that’s the unadorned gist of it.

But underlying it all, the motivation for every single bit of it, is greed… unbridled greed which is properly called “avarice,” for it is greed gone wild. And to support it all, our Congress has enabled, fostered and rewarded such malevolently malignant behavior, because if you’re gonna’ dance, you MUST pay the piper. And now, those sad chickens have come home to roost in the form of increased poverty, and numerous other problems all stemming from the enacting of laws encouraging American enterprise to flee our shores into the arms of another temporary lover, neglecting our own family in that process.
Never in my life — LITERALLY, NEVER — have I ever seen darker days than these. I am gravely concerned about the welfare and future of our nation, if it can even survive another election. Never would I ever have imagined myself thinking, much less writing, those words. Freedom is in imperiled.
And so, as I occasionally do, I reread some published items. And this one — THIS ONE — succinctly summarizes the extent, nature, and depth of the problem our nation faces. Moreover, it taps the root, and identifies the very cause: Avarice.
