Trump Move Guarantees American Economic Devastation

Alternate headline:
Trump Fucks Over America

“I have instructed my representatives to stop negotiating until after the election when, immediately after I win, we will pass a major Stimulus Bill that focuses on hardworking Americans and Small Business,” Tweeted his highness, the Twitterer in Chief, and Chief Twidiot on Twitter the day after returning from a weekend hospital stay at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center where he was treated for COVID-19.

His hypocrisy marks a 180° reversal from the weekend when Trump pushed for negotiators to reach an agreement, telling them to “GET IT DONE.”

The SOB in Chief just cut his own throat -and- that of every other GOPer in every down-ballot race in America.

He CONTINUES to shoot himself in the feet, and America in the head and back – execution style.

Expect a🌊BLUE🌊TSUNAMI🌊in November!!

By his intransigence, he has now set America on a guaranteed one-way course to GREAT DEPRESSION II.

And that EVEN AFTER Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell warned of PERMANENT economic damage if additional support was not forthcoming.

The move marks a risky gamble in the final sprint to Election Day, essentially leaving economic progress in limbo as millions of Americans remain unemployed and businesses across the country remain shuttered.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said on Tuesday night that he expects Republicans will confirm President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee before the election.

“That’s the plan and there’s nothing I can see that would keep that from happening,” McConnell said during a Fox News interview when asked if Judge Amy Coney Barrett would be confirmed to the Supreme Court before Nov. 3.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) said Tuesday that she thought talks on another coronavirus relief package should continue, even after President Trump pulled the plug until after the election.

“Now is not the time for Congress to stop doing its work. I strongly believe negotiations should continue, particularly among those of us in Congress. … We all need to keep working until we reach a bipartisan agreement that can pass both chambers and be signed by the president,” Murkowski said in a statement.

Murkowski is the second GOP senator to push back against the abrupt end to the negotiations, which Trump announced via a series of tweets earlier Tuesday.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Tuesday pointed to Russia as the key nation involved in spreading disinformation and misinformation in the U.S., along with posing an “acute” cybersecurity threat headed into the next year.

“Foreign influence activity will target U.S. foreign and domestic policy, international events such as COVID-19, and democratic processes and institutions, including the 2020 Presidential election,” DHS wrote in the 2020 Homeland Threat Assessment (HTA), released Tuesday.

“Russia is the likely primary covert influence actor and purveyor of disinformation and misinformation within the Homeland,” the agency noted. “We assess that Moscow’s primary objective is to increase its global standing and influence by weakening America—domestically and abroad—through efforts to sow discord, distract, shape public sentiment, and undermine trust in Western democratic institutions and processes.”
