Johns Hopkins Reports U.S. COVID-19 Deaths Surpass WWI Deaths… Again

For the SECOND time, Johns Hopkins University’s COVID-19 “dashboard” has reported a total of U.S. COVID-19 related deaths which has surpassed the total of American deaths in World War I.

Screen shot of the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 dashboard made June 16, 2020 at 5:44:47 PM Central Time, which shows 116,788 COVID-19 deaths in the United States.
The dashboard data published today – June 16, 2020 – was reported to be “last updated at” 16 June 2020 at 4:56:18PM.
The screenshot of today’s report showing 116,788 American COVID-19 deaths was made 5:44:47 PM Central Time.
However… according to that same source – Johns Hopkins University’s COVID-19 dashboard – the last time America’s COVID-19 death toll surpassed the total number of American deaths in World War I was on June 8, when JHU’s COVID-19 dashboard claimed 116,933 American COVID-19 deaths.

Screenshot of Johns Hopkins University’s COVID-19 dashboard June 8, 2020 made at 11:14:19 AM CT showing 116,993 American COVID-19 deaths.
That screen shot, which was made June 8, 2020 at 11:14:19 AM Central Time, indicated that report was “last updated on” June 8, 2020 at 10:35:04 AM, and reported 116,933 COVID-19 deaths.
Clearly, something is amiss.
Regular readers will know that I have been following the matter of the totals of American COVID-19 mortality regularly, and have written extensively about it, and noted with sadness in a previous entry on June 8 entitled “Six Zero Zero Two” that
“America’s COVID-19 deaths surpassed the combined total of deaths from the Korean and Vietnam Wars combined – 94,725 – on May 24, when on that day we reported 97,711 deaths.”
I wrote about that finding – that American COVID-19 deaths exceeded those in WWI – in an entry that same day – June 8, 2020 – in an entry entitled “America now has MORE COVID-19 Deaths than World War I Deaths,” that
“Last night, we closed out the day with 110,514 COVID-19 deaths in America, and using that emerging figure as a trend, I calculated that we would equal, or surpass 116,516 – the TOTAL number of American deaths in World War I – in a matter of a few short days.
“Much to my surprise, IT HAPPENED OVERNIGHT!
“This is genuinely sad day in America.”
I have written to the creator/purveyors of that data – Prof. Dr. Lauren Gardner, PhD & Doug Donovan, JHU’s Media Relations representative – about the inconsistencies in the report, but have not been given the courtesy of a response.
This immediately calls into question the veracity and validity of their data.
The public health and safety of the nation is at stake.
Their silence is deafening.
