Poll: Americans Unhappy With Abortion Laws

New polling released by Gallup shows that “Fifty-eight percent of Americans say they are dissatisfied with the nation’s policies on abortion, marking a seven-percentage-point increase from one year ago and a new high in Gallup’s trend.”
Gallup released the findings of their research from a January 2-15, 2020 survey which found that “Americans have grown increasingly dissatisfied with the nation’s abortion policies since 2017,” which also showed Americans’ opinion that “under Trump the laws are too strict.”
Under Trump, “in 2017 alone, 63 new abortion restrictions were adopted at the state level.”
For the 16-year period from 2001 to 2017, an average of only 25% of U.S. adults were unhappy with the nation’s abortion laws, and wanted them to be more strict.
The research also showed that those who opposed abortion were largely religious White Anglo-Saxon Protestant male Republicans with low education.
Ironically, those are precisely the type of people who CANNOT physically obtain abortions, because they cannot physically become pregnant – which is very much like asking someone who
despises eating liver what side dishes they would prefer with their serving of liver which is now cooking.
Every year since 2001 Gallup has researched Americans’ opinions on the topic of abortion in their Mood of the Nation poll.
