Stretching Exercises

Exercise physiology experts tell us that our physical bodies should be “warmed up” before engaging in any type of exercise – that we should gently stretch our muscles before beginning any exercise routine or competitive event. It’s not uncommon to see athletes “warming up” before games, and baseball pitchers in the “bull pen,” and football players on the sidelines will stretch and move about to get their muscles accustomed to the rigorous vigor of competition. Similarly, being an example of faith to others means extending the branches of your life outward. Extend a branch a little farther today and say a silent prayer for someone in your life who is struggling. The martyrs Saints Andrew Kim Tae-gŏn (1821–1846), Paul Chŏng Ha-sang (1795–1839), and their companions were part of a church in Korea that began entirely with laypeople. In difficult times of persecution they were buoyed by others in their faith. The power of a lived faith that extends beyond your arms and into others’ hearts is powerful. Stretch your faith today.
