Are There Any Good Choices In The 2016 General Election?

There are NO GOOD choices in this General Election.
We have:
The Devil We Know vs The Devil We Don’t Know.
We also have:
Choosing the lesser of two evils is still a choice FOR evil.
Granted, someone WILL be elected, and granted further, s/he won’t be liked by those whom didn’t vote for the winner.
The two major party’s candidates are almost universally disliked within and without the parties. And that is a very sad state of affairs. It is, in large part, why there was such enormous support for Bernie Sanders… who is the opposite side of the same coin as Trump.
What concerns me most about Trump is that he seems schizoid. In his numerous interviews given throughout the early ’80’s and ’90’s (which may be found on YouTube), he seemed rational, even reasonable. And even when he addressed Mexico’s President Enrique Peña Nieto, he seemed rational. And then, as you note, he went out and made a speech in which he used horrible language and message, and seemed as if he was diametrically opposed to himself as seen only hours earlier. That is greatly concerning.
Now, if we suppose that, as Trump once said, any publicity is good publicity – yes, even bad publicity – then we might begin to imagine the strategy he is employing.
Doubtless, you’ve given at least passing thought to the ENORMOUS media coverage given to Donald Trump. It is LITERALLY worth BILLIONS of dollars. The value of the FREE airtime that ALL networks have given him alone is staggering. That too, is highly disconcerting. But, as he once said, “all publicity is good publicity.” That is very shrewd, and I would imagine that he’s gaming the system in a way that only he could. That too, again, is disconcerting.
Yes, there are things that need to be changed in our United States. Yes, there are significant problems socially, economically, and legally. Some are worse than others, and some need immediate attention, while others are of lesser criticality. Yes, operations in the two major parties needs a serious re-examination and overhaul. Yes, so-called Free Trade deals need retooling to become Fair Trade deals. Yes, I find simple logical flaw with his “Make America Great Again” campaign slogan – for if it needs to be made great, it is now not great. And I agree with you that America IS STILL THE GREATEST NATION IN THE HISTORY OF THIS WORLD!
Bottom line?
Either way, America is in a world of hurt. And yet, either way, we will persevere and endure.
