Reasons Why Ohio Governor John Kasich Will Be Our Next President

There are numerous reasons, actually.
Here are a few:
He has an excellent political background/pedigree/experience.
• In 1978, aged 26 he was elected to the Ohio State Senate’s 15th Senatorial District, and remains OH’s youngest ever elected state senator
• In 1982, he was elected to the US House of Representatives 12th Ohio District, where he served from ’83-2001 (was re-elected 8 times) by at least 64% each time
• In 2010, he was elected governor, and in 2014 re-elected in a landslide, carrying all but 2 counties (86/88) – including the traditionally Democratic-leaning Hamilton county, where Cincinnati is located

He has done quite well by Ohio voters.
• His approval rating (always fluctuating for any elected figure) among Ohioans, has been as much as 77%.
• He expanded Medicaid in Ohio (which reduces uncompensated care & increases hospitals’ solvency)
• He saved $3Billion in the Medicaid budget, and slowed growth in the plan from 9%-3%, the lowest rate nationally
• He used cost-saving reforms & turned a $6-8 Billion Ohio budget shortfall into a balanced budget without raising taxes
• During his first term as governor, he grew the “Rainy Day Fund” (surplus) from $890M-1.5B
• In his first budget, he implemented a Personal Income Tax cut
• In his second budget, he implemented a 10% Personal Income Tax cut, and a 50% Small Business Income Tax cut
• During his first term as governor, he created 316,800 new jobs, and the state Unemployment Rate fell from 9.4% to 5.1%
• Education funding is at the highest level it’s ever been
• Because of Criminal Justice reforms, Ohio’s recidivism rate (reoffending) of prisoners is the lowest in the nation
• He has vigorously worked against Human Trafficking, and implemented programs to prevent that abuse

He is a political moderate, and not an extremist.
• While in Congress, he was ranking Republican on the House Budget Committee, and co-sponsored the Penny-Kasich Plan which would have reduced Medicare payments to those earning $75K+/yr (though it failed by 6 votes)
• As Chairman of the House Budget Committee, he was the “chief architect” for the Balanced Budget Act of 1997, and can claim the only budget surplus since 1969
• In 1995, when he became Budget Chairman, the US Federal deficit was $163B, after his Chairmanship it became a $236B surplus
• In 1994, he joined 42 other Republicans to “cross party lines” and vote for the Assault Weapons Ban
• He worked with Ralph Nader to reduce Corporate Tax Loopholes
• He worked to cut fraud, waste, abuse and excessive spending in the B-2 bomber program
• He worked with then-president Ronald Reagan to restructure & streamline the Defense Department (first time since it was created 1947) by having a key role in passage of the Goldwater-Nichols Act which reorganized the command structure of the DOD
• He chaired the Congressional conference committee that overhauled welfare, which implemented new work/training requirements
He has done well in private enterprise.
• Served on several Board of Directors for finance companies, including Invacare Corporation & Norvax Inc.
• Joined Lehmann Brothers investment banking division in 2001 as Managing Director until it’s 2008 bankruptcy collapse
He has public recognition from media exposure.
• Hosted Heartland with John Kasich on Fox from 2001-2007
• Was commentator on Fox News Channel
• Was stand-in guest host for Bill O’Reilly on The O’Reilly Factor
• Was frequent guest host & analyst on Hannity & Colmes
• Authored three New York Times best-selling books

what I’ve done for the poor.”Politico reported that in 2014 during a private dinner for donors, he said that in response to a question asked by the wife of a major financial backer about his support of expanded Medicaid. Twenty potential donors walked out of the room.
Republican governors Nikki Haley and Bobby Jindal attacked John Kasich for “hiding behind Jesus to expand Medicaid,” at a private donor forum in Palm Springs hosted by the Koch brothers, which a witness described by saying “It got heated.”
(A spokeswoman for Jindal confirmed the governors’ disagreement at the event but denied their exchange was heated.)
“Factoids” about Ohio’s importance in U.S. Presidential elections
• Only New York has produced more Presidents 7, Ohio has 6
• Ohio is a so-called “swing” state, meaning that no single candidate or party has overwhelming support in securing that state’s electoral college votes
• Ohio is also a “bellwether” state, and no GOP candidate has won without winning Ohio
• Lost 2 Electoral College votes in the 2010 Census Reapportionment, and now has 18
• Missouri, as a “bellwether” state, has voted for the winner in all but one Presidential election from 1904 to 2004 – the exception being 1956.
Ohio voters correctly picked the winning presidential candidate in the last 11 presidential elections. However, in 1960, Ohioans chose Richard Nixon, but John F. Kennedy was elected president.

Ohio is a “swing” and “bellwether” state, and
• No GOP candidate has won election without carrying Ohio, and;
• Ohio has “correctly chosen” the president in the last 11 elections.

Though I’ll vote Democrat, it would be WONDERFUL to have a sensible Republican, who is actually interested in governing, in the race. I’ve heard some good things about Kasich, and there are some impressive things enumerated here, but I’m a little leary about those close ties with Fox News.

Charles, under NO circumstance will I EVER vote for Hillary for anything – not even dog catcher. I favor and support the staid, solid, and consistent positions and solutions of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.
That being “said,” if it came down to Hillary V Kasich, I would give strong consideration to supporting and voting for Kasich… even though I have NOT voted for a Republican in ANY office since Reagan’s first term. But bear in mind also, that I have NOT voted for unopposed Democrats because “competition is good and healthy for our democratic process,” and I have NOT voted for Democrats whose positions and voting record I have opposed, or whose performance has been lackluster, and upon principle, I have NOT voted “straight party line.”
I have long held that “politics is the art of compromise, and is first learned in the home; because growing up, no one gets their way all the time – neither Daddy, nor Mama, nor the children – but on occasion, Daddy gets his way, Mama gets her way, and by the parents’ mutual agreement the children on occasion get theirs; and when each do get their way, the family is NOT harmed.” By that, I mean to illustrate that Democrats and Republicans should collaborate and cooperate for the mutual benefit of our nation. Sadly, that has not happened in the last few years, for the reasons about which you will read below.
In my opinion – and doubtless, in the considered opinion of many others – the present GOP slate of candidates is a veritable Clown Car, or as I’ve called it, the “Insane Klown Posse.” Ohio Governor John Kasich is the solitary sound and sane voice in the bunch. Donald Trump’s loudmouthed, arrogant bigotry, and the responses of those whom he has attacked, as well as the evidence of the remarks of Jeb Bush, and others, is evidence enough that they will MOST CERTAINLY NOT be the candidates. At this point, they’re all crabs clawing at one another – and the voters – for attention.
Their message to date has been:
• Cut taxes upon the wealthy and multinational corporations
• Cut social programs such as Social Security
• Gut the Affordable Care Act
• Eliminate funding for Unemployment Insurance benefits
• Repeal clean water & air legislation
• Increase defense spending
• Outsource American manufacturing & jobs to China, India, VietNam, Honduras via so-called “Free Trade”
• Force American citizens to fight for scraps from the Corporate Master’s table
• Import cheap foreign labor under the H-1B visa program to compete against highly-skilled, well-paid American employees
• Slop the Wall $treet hog$
• Encourage fi$cal insolvency by and through commingling monies from Wall $treet, Big Insurance, and “Too Big To Fail” banks that are bigger now than before they failed
• Increase DOD spending & defense contracts without accountability or oversight
• Continue stoking the fires of armed conflict and International War
• Pretend they care about Veterans, Homeless Veterans, or the Homeless
• Encourage by default fiat firearm violence in cities throughout our great land
• Refuse to repair, replace, or expand crumbling American Infrastructure
Did I miss anything?
The list is seemingly endless.
As I have maintained for quite some time, the GOP has been infiltrated and hijacked by a radicalized group that is Hellbent on the destruction of America by and through the warped and perverted philosophy that in part says things like, “Government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem,” and “Our goal is to shrink government to the size where we can drown it in a bathtub.”
Those ignorant, hate-filled diatribes of the “modern” GOP – however brief they may be – are virulently dangerous because they are, in essence, the foundation of anarchy… the polar opposite of civil society and legitimate governance.
And I have personally sworn an oath – at least TWICE in TWO different agencies and capacities – “…that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same…” and I have NOT forsworn that oath, nor do I ever intend upon so doing.
In my considered estimation, those mentioned above are my enemies for the reasons aforementioned, and I consider them enemies of freedom and our Constitution.

Yes, Kasich is definitely the sanest and most real of the Republican slate of candidates. On the Democratic side, I’ve been impressed with what I’ve heard from Martin O’Malley. It would be wonderful to have to choose between two such candidates! If not this year, may both their names be remembered for the next election cycle.
