Evolution is not Contradictory to Scriptural Creation

And God said, “Let there be light,” and POOF! As if by magic, the sun suddenly appeared fully formed and functional!
And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.” And POOF! As if by magic, every bird and fish was fully formed & functional, and there were bazillions of ’em!
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image.” And POOF! As if by magic, Adam, the first human, was fully formed and functional.
Sounds ludicrous, doesn’t it?
It should. Yet that’s precisely what it says. Of course, the “And POOF! As if by magic” part was added for purposes of ludicrous illustration.
And, it is equally preposterous to imagine that God is a magician, and that POOF! As if by magic, everything just suddenly appeared.
What we see and understand – if we can use observations of the natural world to guide us – is that things occur by a process.
Our births were and are process. A sperm met with, and joined to an egg. The two single-celled organisms became a unified organism, which then underwent mitosis. The cells multiplied, through the process of division, and began the process of development from a zygote, then blastocyst, then embryo, then fetus. Throughout the entire process, we can observe stages of development, the formation of a rudimentary spinal column – the neural tube – the formation of eye-like structures, and buds which will become limbs (feet & legs), and then, eventually, the chemical changes that continue to occur in pregnancy to facilitate the development, and eventual expulsion from the body (womb) – which is why for eons it’s been called “to be delivered of” child. And then, the eventuality of the “milk drop,” in breast feeding…. ALL of it is a process. NOTHING happened And POOF! As if by magic.
It is reasonable, rational, and logical to imagine that the Creation of the universe as we know it – the Big Bang (which was originated by a Catholic priest) – was indeed formed ex nihilo (out of nothing), but it was most certainly NOT “And POOF! As if by magic,” which is precisely what some assert. They erroneously hold that EVERYTHING happened “And POOF! As if by magic.” They assert there was NO process, that everything appeared instantly “And POOF! As if by magic.” And yet, even instant potatoes take time… as do “instant” grits. There is NO “instant” anything – not even “instant” coffee; because the beverage itself becomes ready ONLY AFTER a process to prepare it to be ready to consumed in a brief PERIOD OF TIME.
No, evolution – the stages of development we see EVERYWHERE in Creation – is NOT a “godless” philosophy, it is one that PROVES there IS a Creator Who in Almighty wisdom made a developmental process by and through which all things were created.
THAT, my dear, is wisdom.
