Hi WordPress! What’s up with all the SPAM?

Used to, the good folks at WordPress had fantastic SPAM catchers.
Nowadays, it very much seems like they’re falling down on the job.
Too much SPAM!
Check out the latest offings.

I don’t get those because I have no website, but I am increasingly annoyed by pop up ads that won’t go away, and by full-scale ads that come on if I go to certain websites. (CBS-TV, you’re one of them!)
YouTube no longer works for me, and I think it’s because of all those ads and garbage cluttering up the bandwidth, or something.

Hi Jay! I don’t know what OS you’re using, but I’d suppose it’s probably Windoze. I’ve not had the problems you describe, and while I use OSX, I also have various blockers installed as add-ons for the browser I use – Aurora, an experimental variety of Firefox (Mozilla). As well, I use https everywhere, including Flash blocker, and by design, purposely block certain cookies, and graphical files from select websites. I also use DNT (DoNotTrack), and as a three-fold approach to management of such problems, I’ve found that approach quite satisfactory, even greatly successful.
