Time for a humor break

A long-time friend of mine regularly gives me humor breaks.

Here’s what I mean by that.

Recently, she happened to be watching some rerun/recorded stuff on the Casey Anthony trial and was making ongoing commentary as the show progressed. She happened to comment something to the effect that “It’ll be a cold day in Hell when...”, etc.

What makes this particularly interesting is that she is a Jehovah’s Witness adherent.

The JWs teach that there is no burning Hell and that it is instead a grave, a burial place. In essence, they teach that Hell is “the grave,” a place where the deceased are interred.

Knowing that the ground is perpetually cool, and is several degrees cooler than the surface of the soil, I remarked that, “Well, if Hell is the grave, it’s already cold underground, so you’d better start.

I thought it was humorous that her remark was inherently self-contradictory. But again, apparently, she did not understand the irony.

Of course, on occasion, I tell her in jest that, “I would be a Jehovah’s Witness… but I didn’t see the wreck.
