"… there is no such thing as nothing."

A Special Thanks to Friends

A special thanks to my friends Lee Marshall, Al Whitaker and other Huntsville local media magnates who have run with my idea of the “Rosado Law,” which was that “The State of Alabama should enact a law requiring all restaurant employees to know the Heimlich maneuver and CPR, and have an AED on premises.

The only thing is, the state’s legislative session will be shortly ended, and will be reconvened in the autumn. That gives plenty of time to work, and create a groundswell of support.

I had posted the idea on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 12:51 AM in the entry entitled “I am saddened.” That solitary entry accounted for 66.981% of the day’s blog traffic, and was the single most sought-after, and read entry that day.

As I have recently discovered, Lee had posted to Red Abstract Inc.’s FaceBook page Thursday, June 9, 7:47 AM, and has changed the term from the “Rosado Law,” to “The Jeffrey Rosado Restaurant Saftey {sic} Act,” with the idea of limiting it to the city of Huntsville.

While the idea of a local mayoral resolution or city council act is at least a starting point, there is no question that the Rosado Law should be statewide. There are more people whose lives could be saved.

Regardless, I remain convinced it’s amazing what can be accomplished, as long as you don’t care who gets the credit for the Rosado Law.

Jeff and I were more than mere FaceBook acquaintances. We made each others friendship while enrolled at the University of North Alabama, and worked together in radio in the Shoals area during that time.
