Our National Economy -or- How We Got Into This Fine Mess

Posted by Warm Southern Breeze on Saturday, April 23, 2011

The state of our national economic affairs is, to be certain, a complex topic.

And, as complex topics go, there is no one “simple” solution to resolve the greater problem. The greater problem is, of course, the whole state of affairs – especially, and particularly as it relates to every family’s household income.

Again, the complexity of the issue begs to be understood, because it affects individual families and households.

To better understand this complex issue, I will endeavor to touch upon each topic that is germane to our broader national economy, and confine my remarks to them. And because the topics that all affect the issue are myriad, I will endeavor to subdivide each topic into a separate entry – for clarity purpose, of course.

In this first entry will be an overview of our national economic miasma.

The problems facing our nation’s economy and its’ people are primarily fiscal in nature. That is to say, they are expressed fiscally – even if they are spiritual in nature.

Greed – defined as an “excessive or rapacious desire, especially for wealth or possessions,” even avarice – a form of unbridled greed, defined as an “insatiable greed for riches; inordinate miserly desire to gain and hoard wealth” – has been at the heart of our national economic problems.

At this point, I will stop and continue in a separate entry.
