UPDATE:
According to Dept of Homeland Security:
• LA Governor/Commander in Chief Bobby Jindal idles 80% of Louisiana’s National Guard 1,045/6000
• AL Governor/Commander in Chief Bob Riley declares “Day of Prayer,” activated 439/3000 National Guard
• MS Governor/Commander in Chief Haley Barbour said tarballs “no big deal,” activated 64/6000
• FL Governor/Commander in Chief Charlie Crist activated 37/2500
The President has authorized to pay for up to 17,500 National Guard troops to assist in this clean up.
WHY ARE THEY NOT ACTIVATING THE GUARD??
Those Governors are all Republicans.
