How to Watch for Black Ice

Posted by Warm Southern Breeze on Saturday, January 30, 2010

“Black ice is certainly something to be looking for tonight, as temperatures [are] getting down into the lower twenties.”

– Alan Raymond, WHNT-TV ch19 weatherman, 6PM news cast wrap-up, Saturday, 30 January 2010, Huntsville, AL

By definition, “black ice,” is “nearly invisible,” or “invisible” and therefore not readily seen… if at all.

Perhaps a better question would be “can one watch for the invisible in the dark?” Would that be like looking at your hand in front of your nose in a cave?

I’m glad I don’t rely on teevee’s talking heads for information.
