BCS playoff system set to die. Will NCAA football ever be the same again?
Posted by Warm Southern Breeze on Wednesday, April 25, 2012
Late Wednesday afternoon, Bowl Championship Series executive director Bill Hancock said the words that many college football fans have been waiting more than a decade to hear: “The BCS as we know it with the exact same policies will not continue.”
- Hancock made the declaration at the end of a day of meetings of BCS leaders at a hotel in Hollywood, Fla., to negotiate possible new formats for when the BCS’s current TV contract expires after the January 2014 bowl games. College football’s 11 major-conference commissioners plus Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick will meet again Thursday and hope to release a shortlist of formats under consideration.
Hancock clarified that Read the rest of this entry »

Alabama Fan Contemplates Whether He Would Sleep With Nick Saban
Published on: April 17, 2012 | Written by: Clay Travis
This is why checking the OKTC tips folder is so entertaining — because occasionally you get unexpected emails like this:
“At the Florabama in Orange Beach, AL this weekend, a Bama fan told me unprovoked that he would have sex with Nick Saban. I asked him to say it on camera. He does. Below is the video of said Bammer musing over what he would and would not do with Nick Saban. Only problem is that the video is really dark.”

You’d better hide your eggs, hide your drakes, hide your hens, ’cause DUCK HUNTING SEASON is about to begin!
The Oregon Ducks – what kind of self-respecting team is named the “Ducks”!? What a joke! Why not name yourselves the “Fleas”? – are about to have their lunch eaten, and every one of ‘em are going to go home empty-handed, hungry, with more than just their pride wounded.
The MIGHTY AUBURN TIGERS have arrived!

Football and Tradition Reign in Auburn, AL… not so in Eugene, OR
Posted by Warm Southern Breeze on Tuesday, January 4, 2011
The Nationally-Ranked Number 1 Auburn Tigers (13-0) meet the Nationally-Ranked Number 2 Oregon Ducks (12-0) – quack! (Good grief! Ducks?!? Give me a break! Please!) – January 10th in the BCS Championship Game in Glendale, AZ. The game will be telecast on ESPN, and ESPN3D, with kickoff at 7:30PM CST.
The ol’ quackers think they’re “king of the heap.” They’re fixin’ to learn an extremely valuable lesson… the HARD way. The SEC plays SMASH MOUTH FOOTBALL, and the Tigers are comin’ to getcha’! So, say your prayers, and ask for God’s mercy, ’cause the Tigers will have NONE on you!
WAR EAGLE, baby!!
Here’s what one columnist from Eugene, OR found out about the differences between Eugene, OR and Auburn, AL (and portender of things to come) in a brief, and very interesting piece! Read the rest of this entry »

Auburn 28-27 Victor in 75th Iron Bowl: Now 8 for 11, and 5 for 6 in T-Town

Alabama Coach Nick Saban gets angry after an illegal substitution penalty on his team in the second quarter the Iron Bowl at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala., Friday, Nov. 26, 2010. (The Birmingham News/ Mark Almond)
It seems the newest football stadium in Tuscaloosa is cursed.
And what might that curse be?
Bryant-Denny Stadium – better known as “Jordan-Hare West” – has proven to be a losing grounds for the Crimson Tide when they play the Auburn Tigers.
With the direction of Head Coach Gene Chizik, leadership of Quarterback Cameron Newton, and the fearsome quarterback sacking power of Defensive Tackle Nick Fairley, Auburn proved yet again that their end game is a powerhouse, and why they’re ranked #2 nationally, and remain undefeated, now 12-0, and 8-0 in the SEC.
Alabama was first on the board, and in a big way. Quarterback Greg McElroy drove consecutive first downs the field on each play, resulting in what turned out to be three consecutive scoring drives each time ‘Bama had possession of the ball in the first quarter. However, …Continue…

Tigers eat Dirty Dawgs: QB Aaron Murray nominated for Academy Award & Oscar
Posted by Warm Southern Breeze on Tuesday, November 16, 2010
Wow!
Saturday, November 13th 2010′s 114th annual NCAA SEC Division I football match-up between Auburn University v University of Georgia was fraught with problems, particularly in the last two minutes of regulation play! Auburn’s 49-31 victory was made sweeter by Georgia’s sour grapes behavior.
Of special interest were concerns about Auburn’s Defensive Tackle, #90, Nick Fairley, whose 6-5, 298 pound Junior frame hailing from Mobile, AL was penalized for a personal foul against 6-foot-1, 209 pound, #11, Freshman Georgia Quarterback Aaron Murray, when he hit Murray in the back with his helmet, after Murray had released the ball. He was immediately penalized for a personal foul, with an automatic first down for the now 5-6, 3-5 SEC Georgia.
Afterward, Fairley, described by some as …Continue…
