MONTGOMERY, Alabama — A Montgomery police officer claims in a lawsuit that he was off-duty in plain clothes at a Montgomery mall last month when security officers assaulted him after ordering him to remove his sweatshirt hoodie.
Terence Scott, 26, filed the lawsuit April 11 in Montgomery County Circuit Court against ERMC, a Chattanooga, Tenn.,-based company that provides security for Eastdale Mall. The lawsuit also names one security guard and two other unnamed security guards as defendants.
Eastdale Mall is not named as a defendant in the lawsuit that seeks unspecified amounts in damages.
Efforts to reach an attorney for ERMC have been unsuccessful this morning.
Among the claims in Scott’s civil lawsuit are negligence, assault and battery, wantonness, and that security guards used Read the rest of this entry »

Regular readers of this blog will note that in an earlier entry entitled “UAH President Dr. David Williams to resign” which was published Wednesday, February 17, 2010, I predicted Williams’ resignation.
Today’s – Tuesday, March 15, 2011 – Huntsville Times front page headline which read “Williams surprises UAH with departure,” comes as no surprise at all.

UAH President David Williams resigns - Huntsville Times front page 3/15/11
What I found particularly interesting about the article was that Read the rest of this entry »

Does it come as any surprise that the Multinational Corporation BP has no allegiance or loyalty to anyone or anything save their profit, executive compensation and shareholder payouts?
And yet – as astute observers note – politics makes strange bedfellows. Appointed by President Obama, Administrator Feinberg is being paid by BP in excess of $10 Million annually. But… would Democrats have expected this kind of “favor for the people” from their president?
Pressure on Kenneth Feinberg to disclose BP pay deal

(Reuters Legal) – There has never been anything quite like Kenneth Feinberg’s $20 billion Gulf Coast Claims Facility. Established to compensate victims of the BP Plc(BP.L) oil disaster, it essentially invests one man with full power over how the money is distributed, while he is being paid by the company and unsupervised by any government body.
Gov. Bob Riley: No lawsuit waiver on final oil spill claims
Alabama Gov. Bob Riley has urged BP PLC and President Barack Obama to make sure that Gulf Coast residents don’t have to sign liability waivers to accept claims payments.
Oil spill claims czar Ken Feinberg recently launched the second stage of his claims process, in which he will offer people final settlements or interim quarterly payments.
The final settlements require the claimant to Read the rest of this entry »

I have nothing good to say about Nazis, ex-Nazis, or dead Nazis.
Remember Operation Paperclip – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Paperclip -
It was because of the mercy of God, and good American people that he lived, while millions of others died in ovens, or in dark, cold, wet subterranean chambers making the V2 – Vergeltungswaffe 2, e.g. “Vengeance” weapon.
The V2 rocket was Hitler’s Nazi terror weapon of mass destruction.

HUNTSVILLE, AL – Dr. Walter Haeussermann, a key member of Dr. Wernher von Braun‘s German rocket team and pioneer of the American space program, died Wednesday in Huntsville.
Haeussermann, 96, died at Huntsville Hospital of complications from a fall. He is survived by his wife, Ruth.
Haeussermann’s death leaves five surviving members in Huntsville of the team that took man to the moon and put Huntsville on the international map. A sixth survives on the West Coast.
Haeussermann was with von Braun at Peenemunde, Germany in World War II and helped develop the V-2 rockets that were launched against London and later formed the basis of the American rocket program. …Continue…

The Iron Bowl is THE most intense rivalry of all sports rivalries… bar none.
There is absolutely NO QUESTION that is is even MORE intense than the Auburn v Georgia football rivalry, which has existed consistently far longer than the annual intrastate Auburn v Alabama football game known as the “Iron Bowl.”
Last Friday’s 75th annual match-up between the Auburn Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide was definitely one for the record books, as have been many of the games. For example, …Continue…

Too weird to be true – nut it… er, but it is.
Click here to see the actual story in the newspaper that reported it – The Huntsvile… er, Huntsville Times.
However… a word to “the wise”: It ain’t worth it – neither death will resolve or solve anything. Tomorrow’s another day, and things will change. Just reach out and ask for help. You are loved more than you know.
Nothing is impossible with God, even help when you’re at your wit’s end.
Here is a prayer, especially for you:
Oh glorious apostle St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor who delivered thy beloved Master into the hands of His enemies has caused thee to be forgotten by many, but the Church honors and invokes thee universally as the patron of hopeless cases–of things despaired of. Pray for me who am so miserable; make use, I implore thee, of that particular privilege accorded thee of bringing visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolations and succor of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, particularly ( -here mention your request- ), and that I may bless God with thee and all the elect throughout eternity. I promise thee, O blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, and I will never cease to honor thee as my special and powerful patron, and to do all in my power to encourage devotion to thee. Amen
